NEW C&G 2396 (Design, Erection and Verification) Level 4 preparation pack for (401) Project and (402) written exam.

2396 Level 4 is a challenging qualification. C&G data shows a low (402) exam success rate, year on year, even though it is an open book exam (BS7671, On Site guide and Guidance note 3). I have put the following 2396 options together to help people prepare for the topics and skills needed for the 2396 40-hour Project (401) and especially for passing the 3-hour written exam (402) successfully.

There are TWO Options available:

OPTION 1: Extensive 2396 preparation pack. It has folders containing each of the following resources:

Design unit for learning/practice with. Covers all aspects of design: calculations for sizing (lots of practice examples for these), earthing and bonding requirements, special locations, diversity considerations, earthing arrangements i.e. TN-S, PME etc (inclu. labelled diagrams), external influences, EM lighting, alarm systems, BS7671, Using On Site guide for calculating and verifying conduit and trunking sizes. Using scale drawings, take off sheets, pricing. All these topics have many exercises and answer sheets.

Bespoke 'cable sizing calculators' (excel) for standard and volts drop method of sizing conductors up. Useful for designing circuits and checking conpliance with BS7671. These calculators can also be used to print out your completed calculations showing all the design specification (could be useful for your 401 project).

Inspection and Testing unit for learning/practice with. Covers all aspects of Initial Verification (plus Condition reporting). Includes exercises and answer sheets. Good recap resource as this topic area is in the written exam and Project outcomes.

Regs book practice (BS7671) - TWO full multichoice exercises as practice for finding different things in the regulations book. The answer sheets contain references and procedures for quickly finding the correct sections and regulations within BS7671 (you will need to be proficient at this for the 401 Project and the 402 written exam).

SEVEN written Inspection and Testing exams (to C&G 2391-52 specification). Four of the exams are 'scenario-based' (as required for the 401 Project and in the 402 written exam). These Insp/Test mocks come with detailed answer guides - each answered to 100% full marks.

FOUR practice assignments as practice for the 402 written Project. Each has its own scale Plan with a range of design, selection and erection, and verification questions and detailed answer sheets with full explanations of answers. A detailed Project Guidance document is included to help you with your Project.

THREE full size, 3-hour written mock exams for 401. Written to the course and exam specification, covering a wide range of the requirements for Design, Erection and verification including plenty of calcs to practice with. ANY MOCK EXAMS FOR 2396 ARE VERY RARE. C&G do not provide practice exams. C&G write three new exams every year (for March, June and Dec sittings) but old ones are never released by C&G for practice with. I have spent some considerable time putting these three full-mock papers together based on 2396 course spec, 2396 exam outcomes and previous examiner reports, and answered them all to Distinction grade. My answersheets give useful pointers for maximising marks, pointers to the question structure and taking account of any verb(s) in the questions. There is also a 401 fully detailed Exams Guide document included covering verbs, common pitfalls, and useful pointers for passing a Level 4 (402) written exam successfully. Due to the rarity of any full size, 402 mock exams complete with fully detailed Distinction-grade answers and a comprehensive written exam guide, this option is priced accordingly at £40 using PayPal.

(option 1 is the better price deal but if you are confident you have all the knowledge and skills required for the course and feel able to complete the 401 Project and only want to practice with my mock exam papers for the challenging 402 written exam, then option 2 is the option to go for - but be careful. If you later find you did need the full preparation pack (Option 1) there can be no price reduction for it - so please consider carefully before you decide which option to go for).
